Title: Baby, Now That I've Found You
Author: [personal profile] teaoli
Recipient: meladara
Prompt: I didn't know it could/would do THAT!
Summary: Hermione learns an important lesson about brewing.
Rating: T/Teen
Word Count: 1134 (yes, I went over my 100-word limit. Oops!)
Author’s Notes: This story, while written for meladara's prompt, was also inspired by a scene in a very late chapter (currently 37; I've only posted up to Chapter 2, so far) of my WiP Lessons in Metempsychosis and Saṅsāra. The title (from The Foundations' song) relates more to that scene than to this story (You'll see when I get around to posting it in a few years.), but I needed a title and this is what came to mind. Fortunately, you don't have to have read that to read this. Like all of my fest gifts, this one hasn't been beta-read.
Disclaimer: Everything recognisable was the invention and is the property of Jo Rowling.

Title: A Different Road
Author: [personal profile] teaoli
Recipient: karelia
Prompt: Severus discovers the joy that kindness brings.
Summary When given the opportunity, Severus Snape chooses a different road.
Rating: K/G/All Audiences
Word Count: 100
Author’s Notes: None. Especially now that I've noticed I originally had the one from [personal profile] of_anoesis's fic here!! Oh, wait; that's not true: Nothing belongs to me. Everything recognisable was the invention and is the property of Jo Rowling.

Title: The Unexpected Gift (or, The Inappropriate Present)
Author: [personal profile] teaoli
Recipient: of_anoesis
Prompt: In the spirit of the fest, may I suggest, "the unexpected gift"?
Summary Hermione Granger loves more than books. Finally, one person recognises that.
Rating: K/G/All Audiences
Word Count: 100
Author’s Notes: This was fun, and keeping it down to only 100 words was a challenge I enjoyed stretching to meet. That it was done in honour of our fearless hostess made succeeding that much sweeter. (No beta has read this drabble, so please forgive my errors.) Nothing belongs to me. Everything recognisable was the invention and is the property of Jo Rowling.

The Unexpected Gift (or, The Inappropriate Present) )
The wonderful [livejournal.com profile] hopefuladdict wrote a fic for my birthday. Find it as Approval at FanFicDotNet or at hopeful's lj as A SS/HG flash fiction for Teaoli on her birthday.
I'm 1000 words into the first of two pinch-hit assignments I received four and a half hours ago. I've only written 500 words for the second, but I hope to catch up once I've completed the first. Inspiration feels good!
I remind myself to do that at least once a week. It's been months since I last took my own advice. And there are some files which I deliberately haven't backed up – like most of the fifty-five chapters of Lessons in Metempsychosis and Saṅsāra – for no better reason than superstition.

But this morning at work, I reached into my pocket for the thumb drive which contains my writing life and it wasn't there. I don't actually remember putting it into my pocket, so it could be safe at home. Only, I usually stick in a pocket as a matter of course, so not remembering wouldn't be unusual even if I had picked up the drive.

I won't know the fate of my work for almost another eight hours. Not gonna panic unless I return home to find it's not there. And if it is there, I'll be taking my own advice, superstition be damned.

EDIT: Found! Now to back up those files.
Let me try this again:

Last night, I might not have adequately illustrated my point. I figure an example might help you lot get your brains working.

As many of you know, I volunteer time a friend's bookshop... )
I've been wondering, friends of mine, can you tell when someone is crushing on you? What gives them away? the constant staring? Odd PMs/emails (yes, I've been guilty of that one)? How do you handle it if you do catch a crusher? Tell me your seekrits! (PM me if you're too wimpy to reply in public.)
but I can't seem to think clearly enough to work out what I want to eat.
Thought I'd take a quick moment to post on the B-word. Not the b-word, but the B-word. The one I'm talking about probably isn't the one you're thinking of. But that's neither here nor there. )
Title: The Ignorance of the Privileged:
Problems With Erasing or Overlooking the Evidence of Hatred
Author: [livejournal.com profile] teaoli
Genre: Essay/Critical Analysis
Summary: I am an inveterate seeker of approval. This has undermined my ability to express a point that is important to me.
Warning: This is a critique of social inequality as it informs popular fandom depictions of Lucius Malfoy. If you wish to engage in a discussion of the subject, please remain civil.

Welcome to the Dark Side. )
Sorry, Mr "Work Hard, And One Day You'll Be As Rick As Me", not even hard work works for everyone. But you appear to be too cut-off from people facing real financial challenges to understand that sort of thing even when you see it.

I hope this young woman's story is breaking (repairing?) your heart... )
Not only did she draw several pictures of Hermione the Kitty when I asked begged, she later made me a Snape Sandwich!

Snape on a Baguette! )
I never thought I'd feel absolute rage towards someone at [livejournal.com profile] linguaphiles. Annoyance? )
[livejournal.com profile] linlawless wrote an incredibly powerful and touching gift fic for me at [livejournal.com profile] hpcon_envy! No Vengeance for the Strong explores the differences between what is "right" and what is "just" while contemplating individual reactions to horrible situations.

Please do mind the warning.
Title: Mad About You
Summary: She had been his everything; this place where she’d lived had been everyplace he needed to be.
Author: [livejournal.com profile] teaoli
Fandom: Harry Potter
Characters: Neville Longbottom, Hannah Abbott, Original Characters
Genre: Angst, (not-quite-apparent) Humour
Disclaimer: As usual, I don't own the characters, the situation, and in this case, I don't own the music or video which inspired the story.
His first time back, he didn’t stay very long. )
Recently, there have been several posts at sf_drama denigrating so-called demisexuals. There have also been posts that rip apart asexuals and/or "tumblr assexuals", but I specifically want to focus on the anti-demisexual posts because of a comment I read in one of them. And because of several comments I read in another of them.

triggery and/or angry-making fail ahead )

For those who can't deal with my teal deer, read [livejournal.com profile] pennfana's comment, which says clearly and succinctly what I made a mess of trying to say.
