I never thought I'd feel absolute rage towards someone at [livejournal.com profile] linguaphiles. Annoyance? Sure — there are a couple of members there who have elicited that response in me quite frequently. But I've never actually been angered and disgusted by anyone there before today.

Check out these comments if you don't mind offensive language. See if you can guess who is the target of my ire and why.

For the record, in the past, I've been pissed off at another of the three persons in that thread, but now I'd like cover everyone who isn't the person who made me so very angry in kisses just for not being that shithead.

I've never visited that comm before, but on browsing through it clicked on a random entry, and saw she had responded there also. It wasn't anywhere near as offensive as on the one you linked to, but she again used the opportunity to rant her own opinion on things besides simply giving an answer to the question asked.

*shakes head*

I noticed that too, but I didn't notice till later. Prior to that particular post, I hadn't paid much attention to that particular member. (And I doubt I would have even noticed what she said there if it hadn't been for something which was said to me IRL earlier in the day.) However, in her defence, although it is expressly against the rules at [livejournal.com profile] linguaphiles, I've seen a fair bit of that sort of ranty comment.

Perhaps she never read the rules/was having a bad day/etc. I only know that she never before stood out to me as a person who should expect to be offensive in any way.

Of all the total and utter fail here, this is my favourite:

'I studied black activism for two semesters with some very very good teachers (one black) in probably the best faculty for American studies in Britain. I first read Soledad Brother when I was 14'

Step away from this, it seems like it only causes migraines. And people like that probably can't be told, only time will educate.

I've no intention of dealing with it or her, but I until you pointed out that section, I did wonder at the thought processes which led to parts of her diatribe. Now I see it's all likely a by-product of entitled ignorance.

Ugh, so much FAIL. This person apparently doesn't understand (or accept, at least) the concept of other people having valid opinions. I do find it interesting, however, how quickly this person derailed the thread from a relatively rational conversation about the possible use of "SNAFU" and turned it into a sudden accusation of pseudo-moralism and a few short showers of racism interspersed with brief rants about the idiocy of actually trying to be polite to people.

Perhaps s/he has some kind of anger issues. :p
